“書き初め” (Kakizome) is an event where we write the first calligraphy of the year.
In Kakizome, we write our new year’s resolution or the words that represents good and happy meaning such as hope and dreams come true.

Location : Old Glenmore in Kelowna, BC, Canada / more specific location will be sent by email after you submit the register form.
※ Location might be changed depending on the number of students.
-Before you attend-
・You don’t need to bring anything. (If you have a calligraphy kit, please bring it to the class.)
・Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. (I will provide a apron for each person, but your clothes still might get dirty. Calligraphy ink stains will not come out cleanly.)
Fee
$45
(Kit and materials are included. 20 sheets of calligraphy paper are included in the fee. If you use up 20 sheets, you can purchase 20 sheets for $1 (10sheets for $0.50). Only cash. So, just in case please bring some cash with you.)
(Parents are free, but if you would like to make art piece with your child, the cost will be +$22.50. For example, your child’s fee $45 + your fee $22.50 = $67.50. 2nd child or more the cost will be $22.50 per person.)

Details
This class is New Year’s special class. You will enjoy Japanese traditional New Year’s event. Class will be 2 hours and you will practice and create a final piece on Kakejiku (Hanging roll) at the end of the class.
Once I receive your register form, I will send you the samples you will create. There are 10 samples, so please decide by the day of the class.
